Materials

  • Several Pumpkins - can use real or carvable fake ones

  • For our purpose, we chose the fake so it could be stored

  • To increase your sensory experience (tactile, olfactory, motor planning, proprioceptive, etc.) use real pumpkins including scooping out the inside

  • Safe Pumpkin Carving Kit

  • Hot Wheels Straight and Curved Track with connectors

  • Hot Wheels Cars

Steps

  • Help draw features on the pumpkins for you and our child to carve

  • We suggest you use easy shapes

  • Remember you need shapes large enough for the rack and car, also you need entrance and exit points

  • You can make your track as long and use as many pumpkins as you like

  • Pumpkins are arranged from highest to lowest on stairways or in hallways by stacking up with boxes

  • Have your child help snap the track pieces together and MOTOR PLAN how to assemble the track in and out of the pumpkins

  • Have your child start by placing car on the track of the first and highest pumpkin and watch it go through the course!

Thanks to a similar idea we saw, we decided to try it out and bring this fun sensory idea to you!

THEY WILL WANT TO RUN THE CAR OVER AND OVER!
